We the People

Meet Moniqua’

Moniqua’ Scott is a proud native of Lufkin, Texas, who is committed to restoring a government that truly represents every voice in our community—not just a select few.

After graduating from Texas A & M University with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Communication minor, she pursued her passion for justice at South Texas College of Law, where she honed her advocacy skills through mock trial competitions, legal clinics, and participation in law school organizations.

Moniqua’ served with dedication as an Assistant District Attorney in Harris and Montgomery Counties and as a Public Defender in Harris County, standing up for indigent Texans facing felony charges and fighting for fairness in every courtroom. Her diverse legal experience fuels her vision for vibrant communities where “We the People” means everyone has a stake and a voice in decisions that shape their lives.

Moniqua’ is fiercely dedicated to advancing justice, holding powerful interests accountable, and ensuring that local government empowers families, working people, and marginalized communities alike.

Beyond her professional life, Moniqua’ treasures time with her daughter, exploring new places, enjoying good food, attending her local church and expressing herself through music and dance.

Guided by the principle, “There should be nothing about us without us,” she is ready to bring her experience, passion, and resolve to the Texas House for District 15, making sure all voices are heard and respected.
